The BSc Chemistry with a Year in Industry or Research is a four-year programme offering hands-on experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical sector through a year-long professional placement or research project between the second and final years. In the first two years, students cover core topics such as periodic table trends, carbonyl chemistry, and chemical kinetics. Those without A-level Maths will undertake a dedicated module to develop essential skills. In the final year, advanced subjects draw from cutting-edge areas like nanotechnology, synthesis, and forensic analysis, with opportunities for research projects alongside expert staff. Teaching includes lectures, lab sessions, workshops, and tutorials. All courses are accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Sample modules include Mathematics for Chemists, Fundamentals of Atomic Structure, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Chemistry in the Natural World, though availability is subject to university approval.
