About the course

Our BSc Biochemistry course delves into the molecular foundations of life through a structured, layered curriculum. In the first year, students explore molecular and cellular concepts of biochemistry. The second year examines the impacts of biochemical processes on organs and organisms, while the final year focuses on advanced topics such as cutting-edge research, human disease, and structural biology. This flexible program allows for optional modules to align with individual interests. For more details, visit our course page at https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/subject-area/biological-sciences-ug/bsc-biochemistry.Modules tentatively approved for 2025/26 include Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Medical Genetics, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Protein Structure and Function, and Venoms and Poisons: From Pharmacology to Therapeutics. These are subject to final university approval and possible changes, with no guarantee of availability for all students. Further information on module content will be released in summer 2024; we recommend checking the course page regularly for updates.
