About the course

Our BA in Archaeology and Anthropology explores human history from its earliest origins to contemporary societies, blending the study of material evidence with human development and cultures. This interdisciplinary approach provides insights into what it means to be human, addressing key global issues such as human-environment relationships, inequality, migration, identity, population growth, development, diets, health, politics, economics, and sustainability. By analysing past and present societies, students gain a deeper understanding of these challenges and how they have been tackled.A highlight of the programme is a year abroad at partner universities, enhancing global perspectives. The University of Reading ranks in the Top 100 worldwide for Archaeology (QS World Rankings by Subject 2023), with 100% of students rating teaching staff highly (National Student Survey 2023). Core modules include Revolutions and Transitions, Archaeology Today, Forensic Anthropology, Contemporary World Cultures, and Global Challenges, subject to final approval. For more details, visit the programme page.
