Year 1: Understand the building technologies, services, construction methods and materials used in domestic buildings. Gain knowledge in design and Building Information Modelling (BIM). You will work on an industry-led group project to design an energy-efficient housing development. Year 2: Gain knowledge in design principles of low-energy buildings, building simulation, and energy and environmental performance. Study the principles of non-domestic buildings. You will work on an industry-led group project to design, or retrofit, a complex building. Placement year (optional): Take an optional year of professional paid training in an approved placement with a company in the UK or abroad. Final year: Gain a specialist understanding of building control and commissioning, and develop in-depth knowledge in project management. Undertake a research dissertation on a project of your choice.
