About the course

Our preliminary year is designed for capable students who lack the necessary science qualifications for our five-year Veterinary Medicine and Surgery course, but demonstrate strong academic performance in non-science or vocational subjects, or possess substantial relevant experience. Participants will study integrated modules that highlight interconnections among basic sciences, including animal biology, animal care and behaviour, and chemistry. Successful completion guarantees automatic progression to the five-year programme.During this year, students will cover foundational topics in science and mathematics, such as biology (encompassing body systems, cell structures, biochemistry, health, and disease) and chemistry (including compounds, reactions, atomic structures, and bonding). The curriculum also features introductions to animal behaviour and care, along with practical sessions to develop animal handling skills. This prepares students for the main degree, with a total of six modules studied, leading to seamless entry into the five-year course.

What you will learn
