Philosophy and religion play a fundamental role in shaping ethics, influencing individuals and, consequently, society at large. Ethical thinking is an inevitable, challenging process, and the world's philosophical and religious traditions provide valuable tools to navigate these complexities. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the concept of ethics, principles of ethical reasoning and persuasion, and the Christian, Muslim, and Jewish traditions. It applies various philosophical and theological perspectives to key questions, such as how the media influences thought, who defines justice, and how authors in fantasy and science fiction explore religious and ethical themes. The program structures the first two years with a mix of core and optional modules, providing a solid foundation in Religious Studies and Philosophy, with a strong emphasis on ethics. Students can select topics to build on prior knowledge or venture into new areas. The third year is entirely flexible, allowing exploration of personal interests or career-related subjects, including the option to complete a dissertation focused on Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a combination of both.
