Our BA in Law with Spanish and Spanish Law offers an immersive cultural experience in Spain while delivering a comprehensive foundation in English Law. The program covers core modules in areas such as contract, tort, trusts, and criminal law, alongside Spanish language development through collaboration with the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. In your third year, you'll study at partner institutions in Madrid, Málaga, or Barcelona, advancing your language skills and exploring the Spanish legal system. This unique opportunity enhances education and career prospects, with graduates securing positions in law firms, consultancies, and organizations like Clifford Chance and PwC.The curriculum progresses as follows: Year one focuses on legal theory, contracts, public law, and introductory Spanish. Year two builds on this with criminal law, tort foundations, land ownership, and comparative European systems. Year four includes modules on trusts, EU Law, and optional language studies, fostering a supportive community through law societies and networking.
In year one, you will take core modules in legal theory, contracts, and public law, as well as modules to develop your Spanish speaking and writing. In year two, you will take further core modules covering criminal law, foundations of tort, and land ownership. You will also build on your language skills and compare legal systems as practised in Europe. In your third year you will attend one of our partner institutions in either Madrid, Málaga or Barcelona. Teaching will be in Spanish. In year four, you will take the final core modules in the Law of Trusts, the Law of the European Union and core and optional language modules.
