This degree programme enables students to investigate historical and philosophical concepts from ancient times to the modern era, encompassing moral, social, political, religious, and scientific advancements that have shaped humanity and continue to pose challenges. With a broad geographic focus spanning Britain, Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa, the course develops essential skills in analysing and interpreting these elements, fostering transferable abilities for diverse career paths.First-year modules introduce university-level study by equalising knowledge, exposing students to various approaches, and building peer connections. In the second and third years, students complete 120 credits annually, divided equally between history and philosophy. All must undertake a dissertation—40 credits in history or 20 in philosophy—conducting independent research with expert guidance. Additionally, a 40-credit Special Subject in history deepens expertise in a specific era or region, enhancing skills in primary source analysis.
