Electrical engineers design and develop technologies for generating, processing, and distributing electrical power, including smart grid systems for renewable sources, while supporting industries such as manufacturing, hybrid vehicles, trains, ships, and aircraft. This course provides specialized electrical knowledge and skills to foster a sustainable future. Through lab-based projects in individual and team settings, students gain essential problem-solving and design abilities. In the second year, options to study at campuses in China or Malaysia offer cultural experiences, with the same UK curriculum taught in English, focusing on core modules and selected specialisms. The first two years share content across programs, allowing specialization in the third year based on interests, while building foundational principles, practical skills, and advanced understanding through laboratory work.
In your first year, you will gain an understanding of the principles and practices on which all specialisms within electrical engineering are founded. Practical and fault-finding skills are developed through laboratory and project work. In your second year, you will study on our campus in China or Malaysia where you will continue to improve your understanding of electrical engineering, and your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based subjects. In your third year, you can choose from a range of specialist topics to follow a wide path, or focus on specific technologies.
