Electrical and electronic engineers design, develop, test, and oversee technologies for power generation, processing, and innovations such as drones, electric vehicles, smartphones, navigation systems, and hospital equipment. This course equips students with specialized knowledge and skills to contribute to a sustainable future through lab-based projects, where individuals and small teams apply numerical, analytical, and technical expertise to solve real-world problems. In the second year, students may study at our China or Malaysia campuses, experiencing diverse cultures while following the same English-taught curriculum as in the UK. The first two years share core content across programs, allowing specialization in the third year based on interests.First-year modules build foundational principles and practical skills through laboratories and projects. The second year advances understanding and design abilities, potentially abroad, while the third year offers specialist topics and a group project addressing socio-economic and technical aspects of major industrial endeavors. Graduates can register as Incorporated Engineers or pursue Chartered Engineer status, opening paths to careers in industry or other fields.
In your first year, you will gain an understanding of the principles and practices on which all specialisms within electrical and electronic engineering are founded. Practical and fault-finding skills are developed through laboratory and project work. In your second year, you will study on our campus in Malaysia. You will continue to improve your understanding of electrical and electronic engineering, and your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based subjects. In your third year, you can choose from a range of specialist topics to follow a wide path, or focus on specific technologies. You will also undertake a group project which examines the socio-economic and technical aspects of a major industrial endeavour.
