Our BSc in Economics provides a comprehensive foundation in macroeconomics, microeconomics, mathematics, and statistics, equipping students with essential analytical and quantitative skills to address real-world economic challenges. This knowledge informs policy across diverse areas such as education, environment, commerce, and globalisation, enabling graduates to make a positive societal impact. Students can tailor their studies through optional modules in specialisations like economic policy analysis, international trade, and behavioural economics.The program structures learning progressively: the first year focuses on introductory economic theory and its relevance to cultural, political, and social issues; the second year develops core disciplines and quantitative methods; and the final year explores advanced themes with a year-long dissertation. Graduates are in high demand in sectors including finance, government, consulting, and non-profits, with alumni employed at leading organisations like Accenture, Bloomberg, and the World Bank.

Providing you with a solid grounding in introductory economic theory, mathematics and statistics, your first year of study will focus on the relevance of such methods to the study of economic questions of cultural, political and social importance. In year two, you will develop your analytical skills and knowledge of the core disciplines of economics and quantitative methods, as well as the major sub-disciplines of economics. In your final year, you will examine the major themes in economics at an advanced level and build on the topics covered in previous years. You will select modules that interest you from a wide range of specialist options that reflect our research expertise in both theoretical and applied aspects of the discipline. Under the guidance of your supervisor, you will also undertake a year-long dissertation on a topic of your choice and will gain experience of the research process.
