Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons)

Civil engineering integrates creativity with scientific and technological knowledge to drive meaningful global change. Students will master the design and management of major projects, studying core theories and essential skills through individual and team-based learning. Key areas include structures, geotechnics, materials, wind, fluids, transport, surveying, and construction management. The program features site visits to observe real-world applications, along with access to advanced facilities such as wind tunnels, earthquake simulators, design studios, and CAD tools.As graduates, opportunities abound, including registration as an Incorporated Engineer or progression to Chartered Engineer status. The curriculum builds engineering expertise for careers in industry or other fields valuing analytical and creative thinking. In the first year, students explore core disciplines like structural mechanics and hydraulics through group projects and a residential surveying course. Subsequent years deepen these subjects, incorporate design projects, and offer electives for specialisation, culminating in integrated individual and group work.
