About the course

The BSc Accountancy Flying Start degree is a four-year programme designed for aspiring ICAEW Chartered Accountants, sponsored by PwC and regulated by the ICAEW. Students undertake paid placements at PwC during their second, third, and fourth years, gaining hands-on experience on real client projects while receiving support from university and firm staff. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in key areas such as business finance, financial and management accounting, and business law, with modules accredited toward the ACA qualification. Optional subjects, including entrepreneurship and risk management, allow for personalised study, alongside opportunities to earn digital certifications from Microsoft and SAP to enhance employability. In the first year, students cover topics like assurance, business law, and quantitative methods, plus an optional module on work and society. Subsequent years include study blocks on audit and corporate finance, followed by placements where practical skills are applied. The final year focuses on contemporary accounting issues and electives, culminating in a Professional Practice module during the last placement. Strong performers often secure full-time roles at PwC upon graduation.
