About the course

The department provides three undergraduate BA concentrations: Polish Studies, Russian language, literature, and culture, or South Slavic (Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian) Studies, tailored to students' interests. The Polish program at the University of Kansas boasts over 30 years of instruction, offering courses from elementary to advanced levels, with options for independent study. Students are encouraged to study abroad, and Professor Svetlana Vassileva-Karagyozova directs the program, focusing on Polish and Czech literature, culture, and cinema.Russian studies at KU, established since 1943, include up to five years of language instruction and courses on literature, culture, and film. Study abroad is recommended post-intermediate levels, leading to careers in business, diplomacy, and more. The Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian concentration enables learning one mutually intelligible language for nearly 20 million speakers.
