East Asian Studies with a Japanese Language Concentration requires 31 junior/senior credit hours, including at least 9 hours at KU. Requirements were updated in September 2013, so consult your EALC advisor for current details.Required courses include: JPN306-310 and JPN504-508 (10 credits); ECIV304 or 305 (3 credits); a Premodern Japan course (3 credits); a Modern Japan course (3 credits); a Humanities course on Japan or East Asia (3 credits); a Social Science course on Japan or East Asia (3 credits); an East Asia course in any discipline (3 credits); and one course focused on an East Asian country other than Japan (3 credits). Honors 499 may fulfill the Humanities or Social Science requirement.
