The B.A. or B.G.S. in Communication Studies offers a comprehensive liberal arts education, exploring how individuals communicate in relationships, public discourse, and organizations. The program examines the influence of cultural differences, technological advancements, gender, age, and other social factors on these processes. While an introductory public speaking course is considered essential to the KU experience, most courses emphasize broader communication dynamics rather than speaking skills. Note that Public Relations and related courses are available through the Journalism School, not this department. Detailed course information is available in the COMS Office (102 Bailey).Students must apply and be accepted into the undergraduate program.
