B.A. or B.G.S. in Communication Studies:The Undergraduate program provides a broad liberal arts education that addresses the ways in which people communicate in relationships, in public discourse, and within organizations. The major includes study of the ways in which such processes relate to cultural differences, technological developments, gender, age, and other social variables. While we view our introductory public speaking course as a fundamental part of the KU experience, the majority of courses in the major do not focus on public speaking skills. Also, note that courses in Public Relations, and the like, are offered through the Journalism School , not our department. More detail on specific courses in the COMS major can be found in the COMS Office (102 Bailey).Students must apply and be accepted to the Undergraduate program.Contact Information:For more information about the undergraduate program in Communication Studies, contact the advising specialist:Cindy ThompsonAdvising Specialist - Communication StudiesCoordinator of Academic Milestones AdvisingStudent Academic Servicescindy.thompson@ku.edu785-864-3500
