Biology (Extended), BSc (Hons)

Our extended biology degree offers a dynamic, multidisciplinary exploration of life's processes, featuring a foundation year with lower entry requirements. This four-year program begins with foundational studies before progressing to advanced topics such as cancer therapeutics, applied plant ecology, neuroscience, and environmental issues like climate change. Students gain practical skills through laboratory sessions, fieldwork, and international placements, addressing real-world challenges like sustainable food production and treatments for diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.The course equips graduates with scientific training and transferable skills for careers in research, food and farming, medical investigations, or education. Ranked 3rd in the UK by The Guardian University Guide (2025), it is taught at our Medway Campus in Chatham Maritime, Kent, and includes modules on academic writing, computing, and subject introductions to support those with ability but not the qualifications.
