Portuguese / Gaelic, MA (Hons)

The Portuguese program at the University of Glasgow explores the languages, literatures, and cultures of Brazil, Portugal, and the broader Portuguese-speaking world. Students participate in a diverse curriculum, collaborating in small groups with native speakers from Portugal and Brazil. The program maintains established connections with Instituto Camões and provides access to a comprehensive Language Resources Centre, featuring excellent audiovisual, digital, and printed materials.Gaelic studies delve into Scottish Gaelic language and culture across the centuries to the present, while developing language skills for modern career opportunities. Through Gaelic, students can examine folklore, song, modern poetry, autobiography, contemporary fiction, and drama. The University’s Gaelic initiatives and the vibrant local community offer additional avenues to practice the language outside the classroom.
