About the course

This program introduces an innovative approach to traditional Arts and Humanities skills via a broad, flexible, and interdisciplinary degree structure. It enables students to gain a deep understanding of pressing global issues, such as environmental concerns and social justice, while emphasizing civic engagement. A key highlight is the option to specialize in Theatre Studies through a subsidiary pathway. In the pre-Honours years, core Liberal Arts courses explore essential humanistic concepts for the 21st century, emphasizing critical thinking, active learning, and reflective practice, alongside foundational Theatre Studies modules. During Honours years, students access diverse course options, undertake independent research, and complete studies in Liberal Arts and Theatre Studies specializations. The program aims to equip students with proficiency in theatre studies, including historical, sociological, and theoretical analyses of theatrical processes across time. It promotes collaborative learning across disciplines to enhance teamwork and interdisciplinary communication; hones analytical, close-reading, and communication skills in oral and written forms; fosters independent research via extended writing; develops presentation, IT, and initiative skills through broad Arts and Humanities assessments; encourages comparative interdisciplinary perspectives in expression; and prepares graduates for undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional success, including employability.
