This course offers a comprehensive literary and language education, immersing students in cultural contexts while examining innovations in literature through historical and national lenses. Participants will acquire essential analytical skills applicable to diverse subjects and research endeavors, and have the opportunity to spend their third year abroad, enhancing their chosen language in an immersive environment.Beyond the classroom, students can engage in extracurricular activities such as language societies, tandem partnerships, community liaison work, and events like the Translation! Festival—the UK's only public event dedicated to translation. The program provides access to outstanding campus facilities, including Special Collections on renowned writers, the unique Bill Douglas Cinema Museum for film and popular culture, and the Digital Humanities Lab. Exeter's recent UNESCO City of Literature designation further enriches this experience.
