Athletes can optimise their training and performance, while individuals and communities enhance physical activity, health, and wellbeing, through an interdisciplinary approach involving physiology, psychology, biomechanics, and nutrition. Our MSci Sport and Exercise Science (Integrated Masters) builds key skills, such as understanding energy systems for varying exercise intensities, biomechanical principles for injury prevention, the use of ergogenic aids, the impact of physical activity and nutrition on cardio-metabolic disease risk, and designing psychological skills programs. In addition to achieving a Masters qualification, students explore advanced topics like movement analysis, the effects of extreme environments on performance, paediatric exercise science, and sport psychology. The program offers hands-on experience in specialised labs, alongside theoretical learning through lectures, seminars, and online resources. The first two years develop professional skills for independent research, including opportunities with our Human Performance Unit, preparing graduates for careers in sport, health, and education.
