About This CourseThis course is about preparing you to achieve your goals in global development. You’ll be grounded in the management techniques and concepts needed to work effectively in the modern development sector. For example, you will learn what it takes to run an advocacy campaign, deliver a health services project, or manage a small charity or an evaluation team. You’ll demonstrate familiarity with and the ability to use key planning, management, monitoring, evaluation and communication tools. The course will give you the opportunities to develop the skills and techniques you have learned in a real life setting through our development work placement module. Not only will this contextualize and ground what you have learned, it will also boost your employability and help you reflect on your own positioning within the sector.In addition to this practical focus, you’ll gain a broad grounding in the key issues, organisations and practices of development, fusing insights from management with those from across the social sciences, including anthropology, economics, environmental sciences, media, and politics.
