This course explores how societies' views, beliefs, and actions are reflected in the objects they create, use, and value. Based at the renowned Sainsbury Centre in Norwich, it offers a unique opportunity to study visual and material culture from prehistory to the present. As the only UK Art History Department housed in a world-class museum, it provides a strong foundation in archaeology, anthropology, and art history, equipping students with skills to analyse global artefacts and interpret their relevance today. The programme emphasises creativity as a worldwide phenomenon, covering European art alongside works from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Students benefit from a year abroad at prestigious universities in the US, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, and engage with collections designed by Norman Foster. Learning from leading experts and an international network, including the Sainsbury Research Unit, prepares graduates for careers in cultural and heritage sectors.
