This course delves into the interconnected histories of art and literature across various eras, allowing students to explore key European, British, and American literary works alongside compelling artworks from around the globe. Delivered by UEA's renowned departments of Art History and World Art Studies and Literature, Drama, and Creative Writing, the program is based in the iconic Sainsbury Centre. Students will engage in interdisciplinary studies, examining relationships between artistic movements, visual culture, and texts from the medieval period through to postmodernity, including European art history and creations from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.Set in Norwich, a UNESCO City of Literature with a rich heritage—including early works by Julian of Norwich and alumni like Nobel Laureate Sir Kazuo Ishiguro—the course offers access to an international network of museums and research units.
