Developmental Psychology, BSc (Hons)

Developmental psychology examines cognitive, emotional, and social development, especially in infancy, childhood, and adolescence. This programme integrates core psychology studies with developmental perspectives on cognition and behaviour. Students explore theoretical ideas and research evidence, critically evaluating current theories and developing their own. Research-led teaching occurs in small and large groups at UEA’s School of Psychology, ranked 14th for research quality in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience (Times Higher Education REF 2021). Support includes an individual academic advisor, Learning Enhancement and Wellbeing Teams, and a four-week pre-arrival module.The course covers typical and atypical development, including autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, Williams Syndrome, giftedness, and developmental psychopathology. Students select from diverse modules, with options to switch pathways after year one. In year three, access state-of-the-art facilities like the Developmental Dynamics Lab, virtual reality suite, and an individual research project.
