This course equips you with essential skills to communicate effectively with children who have diverse and complex care needs. For the BSc (Hons) pathway, you will undertake an honours project on a topic of your choice. Guided by a specialist team, you will develop and assess care plans addressing children's physical, mental health, and overall well-being, while considering the intricacies of their care. You will divide your time equally between studies on our City Campus and practical placements in hospitals and community settings, including children's wards, neonatal units, homes, and specialist centres across NHS Tayside, Fife, Forth Valley, and Highland. These experiences, along with workshops at the Clinical Skills Centre in Ninewells Hospital—featuring simulated patient scenarios—will build your hands-on expertise. Upon completion, you gain academic and professional qualifications, enabling registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
