Politics and French, BA (Hons)

This course integrates politics and international relations with French studies, a language spoken by millions worldwide, equipping students with skills suited to a globalised workplace. French can be pursued from beginner or advanced levels, while politics explores individual countries, governments, and international relationships through themes like political theory, comparative politics, and international relations. Students engage in structured French language courses and delve into Francophone history, culture, literature, film, history, thought, politics, linguistics, and visual culture, culminating in a third year abroad in a French-speaking country to enhance language proficiency and cultural understanding.The programme fosters a dynamic learning environment through research-informed teaching, offering diverse options to pursue personal interests. Delivery includes lectures, seminars, workshops, and individual supervision, with assessments such as essays, presentations, exams, and projects. It develops transferable skills for future employers, and students access a state-of-the-art Multimedia Centre along with extracurricular activities like language cafés and guest talks.
