About the course

Pharmacology involves the comprehensive study of how drugs and other chemicals influence bodily functions, extending beyond traditional medicines. In the first two years, students undertake core units from the School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience, along with elective options in fields such as biochemistry, molecular genetics, infection and immunity, cellular and molecular medicine, and mammalian physiology. Final-year modules focus on the molecular mechanisms of drug action, bringing students to the forefront of ongoing research. In the final year, formal lectures are substituted with seminars and tutorials, supported by an integrated program that enhances transferable personal and professional skills. Teaching methods combine traditional approaches, like lectures and practical sessions, with innovative tools such as computer-assisted learning via eBiolabs. This course is also available for intercalation at bristol.ac.uk/health-sciences/courses/undergraduate/intercalate/.
