In September 2023, the University relocated to a state-of-the-art Dental School building, incorporating modern facilities and equipment shaped by student and staff input to enhance learning. This five-year degree emphasises clinical training alongside integrated sciences and technical skills, fostering personal, academic, clinical, and professional growth. Students will apply communication and teamwork skills while providing supervised care to diverse patients in Bristol and surrounding areas, working within dental and healthcare teams to develop as safe practitioners. The curriculum features four key themes: practitioner, scholar and scientist, professional and agent of change, and person and citizen. Beginning with basic concepts in healthy patients, training progresses to preventing and treating oral diseases, starting with peer activities in the first year and supervised practice thereafter. From the second year, students handle increasingly complex cases. Opportunities include intercalating after the third year for additional degrees, with strong support for student welfare. Health assessments and Disclosure and Barring Service checks are mandatory, and the programme is accredited by the General Dental Council.
