About the course

With a rich history of medical innovation, it prepares students to make meaningful contributions to individual care and society.The curriculum follows a step-by-step, systems-based approach to building knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes, including opportunities for a one-year intercalated honours degree in Medical Science or Humanities after year three or four. Students experience remote and rural medicine through clinical attachments in year four. Assessment includes written exams for knowledge and reasoning, coursework such as essays and presentations, and clinical exams evaluating diagnostic, management, and ethical skills. The programme is accredited by the General Medical Council, ensuring recognised professional standards.

What you will learn

Students undertake a step-by-step approach to the development of knowledge, skills and professional attitudes through a systems-based approach to learning. Medical students have the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge by undertaking a one year intercalated honours degree in Medical Science or Medical Humanities at the end of year 3 or 4. All students will enjoy a clinical attachment experiencing remote & rural medicine in year 4, with the opportunity to undertake the whole year outwith Aberdeen.
