About the course

Storytelling takes many forms – and in our new BA (Hons) Journalism and Communication degree, you’ll learn how to tell a whole world of stories in a compelling and engaging way.Taught at UCA Farnham, this degree is all about how to tell stories for media, whether that’s broadcast news, newspapers, magazines or in-house and agency press releases. You’ll learn about the importance of a short and snappy intro, how to interview effectively, how to write to word counts and tight deadlines, writing or broadcasting for different audiences, and much, much more. The skills you’ll develop will help you become a highly effective communicator – both with the stories you write but also in the way you interact with people, from those you interview for stories, to those you pitch your stories to.You’ll be guided by our team of experts and have access to our state-of-the-art facilities within our Film & Media Centre. You will complete a Professional Practice Year as part of this course. This will give you the opportunity to develop your professional, academic and personal potential, equipping you to be confident and engaged in creative workplaces. Employers widely recognise these qualities, and a significant proportion of placement students are offered graduate-level jobs or go onto postgraduate study.
