Sociology with Politics and International Studies, BSc (Hons)

Sociology focuses on developing theories and concepts to explain the origins and dynamics of modern society, supported by empirical evidence. Its core objective is to equip students with analytical frameworks applicable to broader societal contexts and professional environments.The curriculum explores key social issues in contemporary Ireland and globally, including advanced industrial societies, digital developments, global issues, education, work, conflict, and diversity. Drawing on staff research expertise, it delivers cutting-edge theory through real case studies and strong research training, preparing graduates for diverse careers. Note that this course does not award qualified teacher status (QTS), required for teaching in state schools in England or Wales.
