Music with Irish, BA (Hons)

At Ulster University in the United Kingdom, students can pursue an undergraduate music degree at the School of Creative Arts, focusing on four core elements: Performance, Composition, Musicology, and Music Technology. In Year 1, the programme provides a broad overview of musical styles, genres, and disciplines to build foundational skills; BA students majoring in music must take Musicology and Performance Studies. Year 2 introduces optional modules for specialisation, while Year 3 allows deeper focus on specific interests through advanced modules, internships with local organisations, and independent projects.Irish is offered as a minor at the Magee campus, complementing a major subject by enhancing knowledge of the modern language and its literary traditions, both historical and contemporary. This option develops core language skills, analytical techniques, and argumentation abilities through modules in Irish Language and Culture and literature. A minor consists of two of six annual modules, drawing on expert staff and research. Note that this course does not award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
