About the course

At Ulster University in the United Kingdom, students can study History combined with English. The History program spans the early modern era to the 20th century, offering a diverse selection of modules on Ireland, Britain, the Americas, and Europe. It provides balanced coverage of political, social, economic, and cultural aspects, allowing students to explore these themes in depth. As a minor, English builds critical knowledge of literature across its historical and contemporary dimensions. Through studying various genres, students develop skills in textual analysis and argumentation, both orally and in writing. The program includes two modules per year from a range of options, such as "Restoration & 18th-century Literature" or "Words in Freedom: Modernist Revolution in Literature," supported by expert faculty and research. This prepares graduates for careers in publishing, journalism, media, and other fields requiring strong communication skills. Note that the course does not award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
