Accredited by Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES), this course is 3 years or 4 years if you choose to complete an optional placement year.Environmental Sciences examines the natural environment and human impact upon it. This course produces science graduates with an interdisciplinary understanding of the complexity and uncertainty of environmental systems. This course will equip graduates with the skills and competencies to observe, measure, model and manage these systems. This is achieved through the integration of theoretical, practical and field-based approaches.Interdisciplinary in nature, the course embraces ecology, geography, glaciology, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, geology, pedology and environmental chemistry, and considers present-day environmental problems such as climate change, natural hazards, environmental degradation, conservation, planning, recreation, tourism provision, and international development.
