About the course

This interdisciplinary degree explores profound questions in philosophy, religion, and ethics, allowing you to examine topics such as the value of religious faith, the ethics of climate change, and euthanasia. You will develop and defend your own critical perspectives in the context of global events, studying modules taught by expert researchers. From sex and science to logic and the meaning of life, you will gain tools to address humanity's biggest inquiries, with opportunities to write a dissertation in your third year and engage in community activities. As a graduate, you will possess skills to understand diverse viewpoints, communicate complex ideas clearly, and apply philosophical knowledge through critical analysis. The program ranks in the top 100 worldwide for philosophy and features world-leading research, including the Sheffield Centre for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies. You can collaborate with centres focused on social issues like criminal justice and climate ethics, or participate in student-led projects like Philosophy in the City to share ideas with school children.
