Pharmacists are specialists in medications, collaborating with patients to enhance health outcomes through public health interventions, treatment advice, and prescribing. This innovative four-year Pharmacy program at the University of Sheffield equips students with essential knowledge, skills, and attributes to become reflective, ethical, and professional pharmacists ready for prescribing. Aimed at those who enjoy science and are passionate about public health, the course emphasizes hands-on patient engagement from day one via educator programs, placements in community, hospital, and primary care settings, and interprofessional learning. Students develop physical examination, diagnostic, and prescribing skills through simulated training in a dedicated suite, while adopting an integrated approach to teaching that spans medicine design to patient care. Drawing on expertise from registered pharmacists and other practitioners, the program builds confidence, consultation, clinical reasoning, and teamwork, supported by personal tutors and mentors. As a world-leading research institution, we incorporate the latest evidence into teaching to foster informed decision-making. The University is pursuing accreditation with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), with provisional status until completion; graduates must undertake a 12-month foundation training and assessment for registration.
