Our four-year MGeogSci programme, building on the BSc structure, offers an integrated masters that enables students to advance their knowledge of natural processes through an in-depth research project. It explores critical issues such as the climate crisis, environmental pollution, and rising sea levels by analysing interactions within Earth's systems. Accredited by the Royal Geographical Society, this physical geography course integrates field-based learning, independent research, and technical training in geospatial techniques like GIS, computer programming, and satellite observations. The first three years align with the BSc Geography curriculum, while the fourth year involves conducting an advanced research project within an active academic group. Students benefit from field classes in Sheffield and the Peak District, with all travel, accommodation, and food costs covered. This prepares graduates for careers in research, sustainability, meteorology, environmental consultancy, GIS analysis, policy, and government, enhanced by opportunities in societies like GeogSoc.
