About the course

This dual honours degree combines human geography and planning to address environmental and social justice in urban development. Apply geographical theory to urban environments, exploring interactions between people and places. Co-located departments of Geography and Urban Studies and Planning blend expertise for a flexible, interdisciplinary programme, merging social, cultural, and political geography with practical planning skills.Year 1 builds foundations in human geography and planning. Year 2 advances knowledge of economic, social, and political geographies alongside planning policies and market processes shaping towns and countryside. Year 3 allows specialization in preferred modules, culminating in a dissertation. Ranked 3rd for construction, surveying, and planning (Guardian University Guide 2025) and town/country planning and landscape design (Complete University Guide 2026). UK’s top accredited planning school for research impact, with over 95% world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).
