About the course

This course integrates human geography and planning to address environmental and social justice in urban development, delivered jointly by the Departments of Geography and Urban Studies and Planning. Students apply geographical theories to urban environments, exploring interactions between people and places, while benefiting from a flexible dual honours degree that combines social, cultural, and political elements of geography with practical planning skills. The curriculum begins with foundational knowledge in the first year, advances to economic, social, and political geographies plus planning policies in the second year, and culminates in specialized modules and a dissertation in the third year.Supported by a dedicated employability team, graduates emerge with strong career prospects through placements, skills workshops, and industry connections. The program features annual professional skills modules on project management and teamwork, preparing students for employment or further study, alongside the department's world-leading research impact, as recognized in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework.
