English Literature, BA (Hons)

We aim to cultivate your passion for literature and the creative arts, including film and theatre, ensuring you graduate with a deep understanding and appreciation of the field. You will explore texts from Old English to the present, with opportunities to engage in emerging research areas such as Animal Studies and the Environmental Humanities.In your first year, you begin a chronological study of literature, focusing on early modern English poetry and prose, alongside optional modules that build essential academic skills. The second year advances this foundation, offering core modules on critical theories and literary cultures, plus electives on specific authors, genres, or movements. In the final year, you select from research-driven modules for in-depth exploration with expert tutors and may complete a dissertation on a chosen topic with supervisory support.
