About the course

This BSc Economics programme emphasises specialisation in methodological modules, equipping students with rigorous quantitative, mathematical, and statistical skills to analyse economic issues and policy. In the first year, students build foundational economic principles and core quantitative methods, advancing these skills in the second year. By the end of the second year, students choose between the methodological pathway (BSc) or switching to the applied pathway (BA), selecting advanced modules accordingly. The degree includes an optional year-long paid work placement with leading employers like the Bank of England or PwC.Graduates emerge with practical expertise for careers in the public, private, or third sector. The course offers variety and flexibility, allowing specialisation from a broad base in economic theory, alongside excellent career prospects—94% of 2020 graduates were employed or in further study within 15 months. This prepares students for diverse professional opportunities in economics and related fields.
