Economics, BA (Hons)

Our BA Economics programme offers a comprehensive introduction to economics, covering foundational principles, theories, and quantitative skills in mathematical and statistical methods during the first year. As you advance, you will build on these tools in your second and final years, applying them to specialised areas of interest. You can choose between an applied pathway (BA Economics) or a methodological one (BSc Economics) at the end of your second year, with shared core and optional modules in the earlier years to explore both applied and methodological economics.The programme culminates in the Economics in Action module, where you apply your knowledge to real-world problems and policies, enhancing employability through critical analysis and communication skills. A year-long paid work placement with top UK employers, such as the Bank of England, is available after your second year. Graduates emerge equipped for careers in the public, private, or third sector, with excellent prospects—94% of 2020 graduates were employed or in further study within 15 months. This course provides flexibility, choice, and strong career outcomes.
