Our four-year masters degree gives you an opportunity to focus on a major research project that builds on the broad and vibrant spectrum of modules you’ve studied in your first three years.From your first year you’ll study a range of biomedical science modules, with the freedom to explore optional topics from across the whole of bioscience. You’ll study the basis of genetic diseases, the physiology of ageing and take on challenges like how to tackle antimicrobial resistance.At Sheffield, you’ll be encouraged to be creative, think independently, and express your ideas. In addition to completing in-depth lab practicals, you will have opportunities to study human anatomy alongside our medics, work with the National Health Service to diagnose cancer samples, interface with patients directly, or develop IT solutions to handling clinical data.As you progress through your degree, you’ll have the option to specialise in key areas such as stem cells and cancer, neuroscience, physiology and pharmacology, and developmental and cell biology.
