The Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry (Honours) at UNSW integrates biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and chemistry. This interdisciplinary program provides comprehensive training in drug design and development, spanning from initial concepts to clinical applications.Offered jointly by UNSW's top-ranked Schools of Chemistry, Biotechnology & Biomolecular Sciences, and the Pharmacology section of the School of Biomedical Sciences, the degree develops skills in designing and synthesising novel drug candidates, evaluating their biochemical mechanisms, and managing regulatory, testing, and ethical requirements in pharmaceuticals. In the Honours year, students complete a supervised research project with leading scientists, acquiring practical experience in drug development. Graduates gain expertise in chemistry, pharmacology, and molecular biology, opening opportunities in global pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and research institutes.
