About the course

Our English Language programme is designed to enhance your comprehension of how language functions in society. You will explore the influences of history, culture, and psychology on everyday language use, while engaging with diverse analytical methods under the guidance of leading researchers in the field. In a Major (75%) English programme, students select 90 credits of English modules each year. The programme offers options for a Year in China at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, where you can study BA China Studies in an English-speaking environment, or a Year Abroad at partner universities worldwide, focusing on cultural and disciplinary topics. Applications for these options are available upon arrival at Liverpool. Alternatively, a Year in Industry involves a paid placement in year three, with support from the School of the Arts and Department, and a reflective report contributing to your final degree. Indicate interest via the YI code on your UCAS form.
