Structural Engineering with Architecture, MEng (Hons)

Structural engineering and architecture collaboratively shape the built environment, influencing design, construction, materials, and aesthetics. This interdisciplinary programme, delivered jointly with the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), provides essential training in structural engineering while building a strong appreciation for architectural contexts. It prepares students for sustainable building design and professional licensure, with Year 1 featuring roughly half the curriculum in architecture classes. Students advance fundamental engineering concepts, applying scientific knowledge and tools to infrastructure, while drawing on expertise in sustainable materials, design methods, and environmental impacts.At Edinburgh, students learn from industry-leading experts, gaining a broad understanding of civil and environmental engineering through field trips, team-based teaching, and world-class facilities. Student societies foster networks in innovative areas like hyperloop technology and rocketry. Strong industry ties, via advisory boards and internships, offer practical engagement and opportunities to connect with graduates, supporting career readiness.
