The programme develops critical, analytical, and creative skills by examining a broad range of Scottish literary works from the late Middle Ages to the present, alongside specialised studies in Scottish history that cover various themes, periods, and approaches.At Edinburgh—the first UNESCO City of Literature—exceptional resources, including university collections and the National Library, enhance learning. As the UK's oldest department, we offer flexibility: in years 1 and 2, choose from a wide array of disciplines, then tailor courses in years 3 and 4 to your specific interests in literature and history.
