Approximately 150 million people worldwide speak Russian, the official language of four countries and widely understood in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with large communities in China, the US, Israel, and Western Europe. This joint honours programme in Russian Studies and History of Art equips you with advanced speaking, writing, reading, listening, and translating skills in Russian, tailored from Year 1 based on prior knowledge. You will explore Russian and Russophone literature, culture, politics, and history, alongside global art history, its creation, meanings, and interpretations.Studied over four years including a Year Abroad, the programme offers flexibility: pre-honours years build foundations with optional courses; honours years include immersive study abroad in Year 3 and specialised topics, advanced language, and a dissertation in Year 4. Based in Edinburgh's vibrant festival city with world-class galleries and Russian collections, graduates gain fluency, broad cultural knowledge, and specialist expertise valued by employers.
A local representative of The University of Edinburgh in Singapore is available online to assist you with enquiries about this course.
