This joint programme offers a range of courses in psychology and linguistics. Psychology involves the scientific study of the mind, brain, and behaviour through experimental and observational methods, using research evidence to build and test theories. Psychologists examine how individuals perceive, think, and learn about their environment; how biological and social factors shape behaviour; differences in personal interests and abilities; verbal and non-verbal communication; and changes in mental capacities across the lifespan. The programme emphasises developing skills in research methods and statistical analysis with R programming to support research-led teaching.Linguistics investigates how language operates, focusing on the creation of meaning through sounds, words, sentences, and conversations. It also explores language's everyday applications, its variations across societies and evolution over time, and how children acquire it.
