About the course

Physics is the study of the fundamental processes of our Universe. The laws of physics underpin the other natural sciences. This programme covers all aspects of physics, from the very basics to the current frontiers of knowledge. This programme combines most aspects of the standard MPhys Physics degree with the opportunity to undertake a year-long research project abroad in Year 4. The early years of the programme are broad-based, providing a robust foundation for advanced physics and mathematics courses. In later years you can specialise, depending on your interests and career ambitions, by taking courses from a wide range of fields.Whatever field of physics interests you the most, you will find experts in:

  • particle physics
  • nuclear physics
  • condensed matter
  • fluids
  • optics
  • cosmology
  • astronomy
The penultimate year of the programme is spent away from Edinburgh at an overseas university, research laboratory or industrial facility, undertaking an innovative research project.

A local representative of The University of Edinburgh in Singapore is available online to assist you with enquiries about this course.
